- In April 2025, the number of people without jobs went up a little in three states and Washington, D.C., while it went down in two states. Overall, the U.S. jobless rate stayed the same at 4.2%, but it was 0.3% higher than last year. Some states like Mississippi and Michigan saw bigger increases in jobless rates by about 1.2% and 1.1%. At the same time, five states added more jobs, with Texas gaining 37,700 jobs and Ohio adding 22,200. Younger people, especially women under 50, and people who identify as LGBT are more likely to use these practices—54% of LGBT adults consult astrology yearly, and 33% use tarot cards. Most people don’t make big life choices based on these, but 21% of LGBT adults say they rely on them at least a little when deciding important things. These findings show that while many Americans enjoy these practices casually, certain groups turn to them more often and sometimes for guidance, reflecting how beliefs and habits vary across society.
