On August 29, 2025, Congress did very little. The Senate met for just 30 seconds in a quick session and then stopped until September 2. The House of Representatives met for only one minute, introduced 18 new bills (numbered
H.R.5060 to
H.R.5077) and 5 resolutions, but did not vote on or approve any laws. No committees met or held hearings that day. The Senate planned to start talking about the National Defense Authorization Act (bill
S.2296) on September 2 and vote on a key step called cloture, which limits debate and moves the bill forward. These actions show Congress was mostly on a break, but preparing to work on important defense spending soon.
